Tentatively Going Home Today!

on November 7, 2012
I waited patiently for the Lord; and He inclined to me and heard my cry.

Ellie Louise Cushman ~ Tube free living!

He brought me up out of the pit of destruction, out of the miry clay, and He set my feet upon a rock making my footsteps firm.

He put a new song in my mouth, a song of praise to our God; many will see and fear and will trust in the Lord.

How blessed is the man who has made the Lord his trust, and has not turned to the proud, nor to those who lapse into falsehood.

Many, O Lord my God, are the wonders which You have done, and Your thoughts toward us; there is none to compare with You.

If I would declare and speak of them, they would be too numerous to count. Psalm 40:1-5

That last verse really reflects how I feel today. There is no limit to how kind God is or how kind He has been to our family. He surely is wondrous.

Thank you for the help, meals, messages, emails, texts, notes, snacks, gifts, hats, encouraging words and prayers from all of you… many of you that I have never personally met! God has so met our physical and emotional needs through His people… thank you for your part.

We had a great night last night. I got about 5 hours of good sleep. Ellie transitioned from Pedialyte to breastmilk seamlessly and is tolerating her feeds well!

Today she is supposed to get her stitches out from where her g-tube was placed. Her g-tube is a cute little button! So I will get to learn how to connect and disconnect the little connector thingie today from the button after the stitches are out. We really don’t have much of a learning curve at all because it is still a pump and we just have to learn a different place to connect and disconnect the feeds. It was pretty simple and straightforward  when I got to practice last night.

The plan is tentatively for us to be able to come home today!

We are very excited and will be glad to be back and be a family again:)

Being covered in prayer was essential to this hospital visit and we are sure that the Lord ordained each moment of it. Thank you so much for your part in helping little Ellie this week.

Today’s prayer requests ~

  • That we would be able to manage her reflux well through positioning and that eventually she will complete grow out of refluxing.
  • That we would have a calm, uneventful day of eating and doing well.
  • That we would be discharged today and be able to come home.
  • That we would remain healthy and well.
  • That Ellie’s g-tube site would heal nicely and that she would not get any infections.
  • That we would be able to re-enter society soon!
Love to you all ~
Chris and Charlotte
