Ellie Louise

10-16-12 Update

on October 16, 2012

We can tell you all are praying, because Ellie did not spit up at all over the weekend and she continues to grow.

Yesterday when I weighed her, she was 4 pounds 11.5 ounces, up from 4 pounds 7 ounces when she came home from the hospital.

We saw Zach this weekend, as he was able to come home for church and the afternoon and got pictures of all the kids holding Ellie, which was great.
Ellie is sleeping very well at night her coloring looks great.

Our prayers about continuing care for Ellie have been answered, as I got right in to our pediatrician, and she got the ball rolling on everything we need, including referrals for the pediatric neurologist. She also consulted with the NICU on increasing Ellie’s calories and intake. We will also be using a fortifier for my milk in order to increase her calories without increasing the volume.

Thank you so much for all the delicious meals, kind comments and  continued prayer.

As our family walks through this… it is so meaningful to me to know that you all are with us. But more importantly, that the Lord Jesus is with us.

Psalm 84:10-11

Better is one day in your courts than a thousand elsewhere; I would rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God than dwell in the tents of the wicked. For the LORD GOD is a sun and shield; the LORD bestows favor and honor; no good thing does he withhold from those whose walk is blameless.

The only way my walk is blameless is through the Lord’s grace, mercy and forgiveness. I am only blameless when the Father looks at me through the lens of His Son. Although I deserve nothing, I am glad of the opportunity to follow the path that the Lord has our family on, but pray that I will be content no matter what the outcome.

Today’s Prayer Requests

  • That the Lord will show us clearly at each step what He wants us to do.
  • That He will give the doctors and our family wisdom as to when to have the surgery for her kidney and to insert a g-tube. That we be very comfortable with the timing and that she will be very strong and healthy for the surgery. Please pray that we will put our confidence in the Lord, who is Ellie’s Father and who loves her more than we can and with no selfish motives. We ask that He would be gracious and let her continue to breathe on her own, and that when she has surgery she will come off the vent with no problems at all.
  • That our household will remain illness-free and that Ellie will not catch anything from us or those around us.
  • That we would put our hope and trust in the Lord and not in our precaution, the doctors, the Internet or the insurance company. That we would cling to the One who made Ellie and remember how we have gotten to this point.
  • For continued to help in getting into a routine.

Thank you so much for love, support and continuing prayers… thinking of y’all today….

Chris and Charlotte
