With my oldest son, Zach, handwriting was never a problem because we had this great book and he would do his one page that I required, and the book would last the whole year.
Girls are different and Talley went through her handwriting book in a week. No kidding.
There are a lot of free printables out there, but none of them use Dubay Italic Handwriting. I fell in love with this handwriting series when Total Mom suggested it because it is so legible. Zach has ended up with a very legible hand and this is what I care about… that people can read my children’s handwriting!
I decided that with the number of children I have, it would be a wise investment of my time to print out my own handwriting sheets. So I purchased a package of fonts which included Dubay Italic from www.educationalfontware.com.
I thought that I would just quickly dash off some handwriting sheets each morning for 4 different levels and quickly the handwriting just wasn’t being done at all. When I realized I needed to actually create my own program I decided to use the idea of doing handwriting sheets A-Z. Then I realized that no child is going to want to do the same worksheets over and over again, so I decided to do one letter per week, incorporating a animal for the week, a verse and either numbers, days of the week or the months of the year.
Since I had to go to all the trouble of doing all of this (Oh why didn’t I just buy Talley 5 or 10 books??? That would have been quicker!) I wanted to share it with other homeschoolers. It is not because I am so generous… I just wanted all of my hard work to be appreciated!
Right now I am still working on Level 1. It is suitable for preschoolers up through about 2nd grade, depending on your student. I have A-E done, which is 30 days worth of handwriting (5 weeks).
I have just added F-J for Level 1.
I have the concepts and groundwork started for Level 3 (Cursive 2nd-4th) and Level 4 (Cursive Advanced).
I ask that you use these for your personal homeschooling only and do not sell them. If you know a friend that could benefit from them, by all means direct them to my blog. If you teach a Sunday school or other not-for-profit co-op type class, please feel free to use them in that setting. Happy handwriting! char

Those are great! Thanks for sharing! I have a whole copybook on my blog, using The Spider and the Fly poem. You’re welcome to download it. :) I used the BJU Precursive font. http://5kidsandadog.wordpress.com/2008/06/09/manuscript-copybook-freebie/ I really like the Dubay Italic but have never used it before.
Oh, my you are just way too clever! But I will reap the benefits of having just a gifted friend. love you
Wow, Char, very creative!
Girl, Do you have any idea how may times I have started to do this? I no longer use the Italic series, but I still teach my kids using that font. These sheets are great! I’m sure they will help a lot of mothers. You’re sweet to share. :)
Total Mom(you and Chris are the only ones in the whole wide world who know that name ya know!!) ;)
Thank You so much for the Level 2. I really enjoyed the 1st a lot! You are so wonderful to share this with other homeschool moms.
